Why
Offense, not defense
Much of the profession's public work is defense: protecting scope, standing and access. That work is necessary, and the associations doing it carry the profession. But defense keeps what we have. It doesn't put chiropractic in front of the student who would have been great at it and never heard of it.
ChiroMovement is the other half: the part that goes looking for those students. It works openly to establish chiropractic's presence in high schools, community colleges and universities. It connects people who share that aim. It hosts hangouts and discussions. And it recognizes the institutions that open doors.
Expansion
A profession grows when people who've never met a chiropractor meet one: in a career class, a pre-health club, an advising appointment, an office visit. Every one of those rooms has someone who decides what's in it. We want chiropractic in those rooms, described accurately, by people who do the work.
Infrastructure
Enthusiasm fades; structures stay. That means clubs that outlast their founders, offices that welcome visitors year after year, advisors who know which page answers which question, and associations that can find a chiropractor willing to visit a school in their state. It also means facts that anyone can check. That's why we lean on the Kaleidoscope instead of making our own claims.
Culture
Students on different campuses have more in common than their schools let them see. ChiroMovement started as a way to bring them together, and it still is. A profession whose students know each other across schools, traditions and techniques builds more together.
Respect
Respect is earned in the open. We represent the profession with integrity, transparency and connection: we say what we know, cite where it comes from, admit what we don't know, and never inflate it. When a school, college or association opens a door, we'll say so, by name and by what it did, after asking it first. That's recognition, and it is never a ranking.
What we won't do
- Rank a school, program or person.
- Restate a fact differently from the Kaleidoscope.
- Ask anyone under 18 to sign up for anything.
- Collect anything a person didn't knowingly give us, or sell or share what they did.
Why it's separate from the Kaleidoscope
The Kaleidoscope is the neutral record: sourced, dated, and on nobody's side. ChiroMovement has a side and says so. Keeping them apart protects both. The record stays trustworthy because it takes no position, and we can take one because the record is there to check us against.
